Volunteer Work
Populations are putting tremendous pressure on forests and natural resources in the Comarca. We are facing a drastic loss of biodiversity due to traditional slash and burn farming techniques. It is urgent for populations to adopt different ways of food production. These new techniques need to be environmentally friendly, more efficient, and competitive in the market place. This is one area where collaborators and volunteers from other parts of the world can be valuable for the indigenous population.
- Work in the garden (organization and taxonomic classification)
- Construction of infrastructure
- Make biological, botanic, and physical geography studies
- Interact with the population and to inform them of the results of the studies, research, and projects
- Increase cross cultural exchange by building infrastructure together with the community.
In addition to volunteers, the Ngobe Botanical Garden is always in need of funds and/or in kind donations. Please email us for more information: jardinsoloy@yahoo.de |
